New year, new goals.
Every year, when Brandon Sanderson does his "State of the Sanderson" blog update, it fills me with equal parts inspiration and envy.
First thing: if you haven't read Brandon Sanderson's book, STEELHEART, make sure you read it this year.
Second: if you aren't familiar with Brandon, what you need to know is that he has incredible writing output. Hundreds of thousands of words per year. It's stunning.
This year, inspired by Brandon, I feel like posting my author goals for 2018.
So here they are:
1. I want to see if Tiger Trouble can earn 50 reviews on Amazon by December 31, 2018. This is going to be a challenge, for sure, but it's a goal I'd love to hit by the end of the year.
2. I'm going to start and finish the still-untitled fourth novel in the Agent Darcy & Ninja Steve series. I can't guarantee that it will be out and available for purchase in 2018, but at the very least I want to finish the actual final draft before the year is over.
3. I've been working on a sci-fi novel for an older teen audience. I'm going to finish a final draft for that as well. I can't give you details on it right now, but I have been building this project for a while and it's finally taking the shape I want it to. I'm very, very excited about this one.
4. In 2017, I appeared at the Gaithersburg Book Festival and the Baltimore Book Festival. In 2018, I'd like to appear at both of these, plus one more festival. I've had an absolutely wonderful time at each festival, meeting new readers and getting to talk about great books with enthusiastic bookworms. It's definitely time to add one more to the roster.
There you have it. My 2018 goals.
Let's see how I do!
